We’re organizing five work groups to help people live where and how they want in Portland. (Open to members only, so you should become one!)
Which area of change is for you?
equitable zoning
All Portlanders and future Portlanders deserve to live where and how they want - which includes remaining in their current area. We fight to change laws that lock lower-cost housing types, and therefore people, out of neighborhoods, especially the most exclusive ones.
Protecting tenants
Our housing market’s bargaining table is tilted. With something as fundamental as housing on the line, no unregulated market between landlords and tenants could ever be fair. We support government actions to give tenants the leverage they need to prevent the sudden displacements that tear up lives and communities.
Housing people in crisis
Our failure to create an effective housing system lives in plain sight. We push for governments to understand and work to improve the shelter-to-housing spectrum and to protect those of us who need housing most desperately.
Events
“A good tactic is one your people enjoy,” said Saul Alinsky. Let’s be real, this usually involves food. Our events committee comes up with regular ways to open minds, build connections and welcome new faces.
Communications
Ideas need expression. We use words, images and stories to share our work and its needs both inside and outside the organization.
